I hate honda civics - everytime I see one I look for my "Ox vs Thunderbird" sticker on the back and the fucked up bumber. Tonight I drove to Capitol Hill like I normally do, I was planning on meeting up with my friend Brad and Pamela at Linda's on Pine. We have been going there a lot lately. I parked my truck, and took my first right to head through Cal Anderson park. As I was looking up I saw the dreaded car that I look for everywhere I go. Instantly I started shaking. Like a jackass with a broken heart I called Teresa on the phone - to no avail. I texted her, told her I was sitting on the hood of her car to no avail. After about 20 minutes or so I went to the first apartment's front door and looked on the directory. Of course, apartment 002 it said "bronson." Up until this point I refused to ask or want to know where she moved to. Oddly enough she moved literally one block west of where I use to live when I moved to Seattle on 13th and Howell.
Background - I was with Teresa for almost five years, we have some rough spots but nothing that was super terrible or abusive. This is the person I spent most of my time wanting to make happy and be with. In July of 07 on the 3rd I found out she had been talking with this boy she met on the plane coming back from this HR conference. I found out by a comment he posted on her myspace, I logged in to her account to find them chatting back and forth. Once confronted, she informed me that she purposely left that comment up for me to find and for me to inquire about. From then on it has been hellish for me...
Back to the "bronson" directory - I paged it twice she answered. I don't know if she knew it was me or was acting otherwise. I wanted to see her. Don't ask me why. The person that puts you through that much shit, and makes you feel horrible - and you still want to see them. She hung up on me, but called me back on my cell phone. She told me to leave her apartment - as I was walking away I was talking with her briefly. She was very hesitant to get off the phone. Like a jackass I wanted to talk to her for whatever reason. I wanted to see my cat "lana." I was thinking about a million things at once, and became that hurt person all over again. I got half way to Linda's before she hung up on me after saying goodbye for the 12th time to me.
My fingers were frozen from holding the phone in the cold air. I had to get my ID out to get in to the bar, which proved to be a much harder task then it should have been. Once I got inside the weirdest thing happened to me. As I was walking up the steps looking around for Brad and Pamela, this girl stopped me. She was pointing at me and starting saying "you are the guy with the zombie drawing." At first I was confused and distracted, but that quickly went away. I told her that; that was me. She was so exited and introduced me to her friends. They told me that they were a fan of my artwork and they love my shirts that I print. I had to quickly tell them how I was in the strangest mood from running in to my X. I told them that they made my night - almost instantly I felt a million times better from that.
A lot of things I don't understand, but randomness is amazing to me still. How you can go from one crappy experience that seems to ruin you - to a stranger that appreciates who you are and your work.
It's a little after 1:10am... I'm not tired thanks to insomnia - which won't go away. I'm going to go play some Mario Galaxy on my Wii and listen to Cap'n Jazz.

Small Brown Bike - Re-Lives!
Brad and I are at home working away as we stumble across the most amazing band ever re-incarnated. Small Brown Bike has come back as Able Baker Fox. This news is out of control, their sound is amazing and the line up is amazing:
Ben Reed - Vocals + Bass (The Great Sea Serpents, Small Brown Bike)
Mike Reed - Vocals + Guitar (LaSalle, Small Brown Bike)
Nathan Ellis - Vocals + Guitar (Jackie Carol, The Casket Lottery, Coalesce)
Jeff Gensterblum - Drums (The Holy Fire, Small Brown Bike)
I can not even tell you what great news this is. I only got to see Small Brown Bike two times - back to back. I drove to New Mexico to see them play at the venue called The Launchpad with Last Day Parade. I was under age at the time, but my good friends from Last Day Parade snook me as part of their band. The next day Small Brown Bike played in Tempe, Az where I lived at the time. I drove back home to see them the following night. I got to talk to Ben and Mike a little each night. They were super rad, and really nice to me and their fans. Not only did they rock harder then most bands, but they were super amazing humans.
What a FUCKING awesome way to start the new year!
Check them out, and listen to "Stuttering" (The ripley stereo guitar is INSANE!)

I'm stoked, another amazing store has picked up my screen printed artwork! Hooray. The store is located in Capitol Hill, Seattle on 12th between Madison and Pike. It is ran by these two amazing ladies who were very nice to me and a super pleasure to meet. They have some really amazing products in their store, not to mention they do art shows as well. I'm stoked to be there now, you should go check it out if you are in that area - I promise you won't be disappointed one bit.

Super Tamale Brothers - Strike Again!
Wednesday and Thursday night the Super Tamale Brothers got together to make their super Vegan Tamales. It took two days of madness to get everything ready and prepped, but it was totally worth all the effort.
Before we started we got all the ingredients and got the fillings all setup. We had four different types this time. One ground beef (fake of course), setian and green chili, mixed veggies and green chili, and lastly we made a cinnamon and raisin variety.
For the masa, we had three different types; one for the spice masa, mild masa and for the dessert masa. All delicious.
Once the masa was mixed, fillings were ready to go and the corn husks were soaked for 8 hours we were ready to start assembling. We had extra help from Brad & Andrea - so the super tamale brothers were super fast and efficient this time.
After we filled them all up, we put them in four pots to steam for several hours. We cooked them on low over night so they could get all that flavor.
Afterwards - we ended up with some where around 120 tamales. That is enough food to feed us for a month or so. Which is awesome, because we need food to live on, and tamales are perfect for that. YUM!

Twilight Artist Collective - New Location
I'm a little late on posting this but it still works. Last week the three amazing girls (Erin, Mary & Cheryl) at Twilight Artist Collective opened their second location in West Seattle. They put on a really killer art opening with some amazing local artist such as Kim McCarthy, Brad Strain, Justin Hillgrove, Todd Karam and more.
I also have all my printed illustrations there on some kick ass t-shirts. So, go there and support the arts of Seattle.

Teaching Screen Printing at Meadowdale High School
My day started about 5:45am this morning. I woke up - took a shower got dressed and ready. From that point; since I was super proud to dress myself I got everything ready for the day.
The kids created their own artwork, I got to burn the screens and have them all ready for them. At the beginning of the class I talked about the whole process from prepping your screens, to artwork, burning, setting up the press and printing. It was a challenge to condense that much information in to 30mins of dialogs. It really seemed like all the kids were really in to the process and the possibilities of what they could do artistically. I'm really glad I didn't sound like a jackass answering their questions. I was terrified they were going to ask me something super complex and I would answer like this, "huh.... huh... the thing about that is...." then bolt out the door in embarrassment.
The printing was of course the best part. We had a total of six screens and eight compositions of artwork from the students. They all got to take turns printing their collective artwork on the shirts or other apparel items that they brought in. They all seemed super amazed and happy with how their artwork printed. The little side comments in the background were the best to listen to about their printing project.

Austin 2007
Every year I go to Austin it is more fun then the year before. There were three things or events that I thought were the best. But hot dog, there was a lot more that was just as rad, if not more so. Ok, that made no sense... but whatever.
Stitch 2007
Holy crap, do the girls that put on Stitch know how to throw an amazing party, event and craftastic event! This year it was at a convention center, and we all had 10x10 booth. I really enjoyed that, plus I was on a corner this year and that made a huge difference in my opinion. I had a lot of repeat friends from the years pervious visit me and a lot of new friends. People really really stoked on my 100% Organic and Eco-Poly Blends apparel that I'm printing on. Hooray!
Whole Foods Market - Lamar
On saturday before I headed over to the convention center to get setup I stopped in to the Austin Lamar store. I was heading towards the Whole Body department when I saw that my artwork was on one of the front endcaps of the department. It was amazing to see them front and center. On top of that, the Team Members and customers were really in to my work. By far, this was one of the best highlights for me.
Office Space
Hahaha, this makes me laugh every time I think about it. My friend Chris took me on a mini tour of the locations for "Office Space." It was pretty rad. I got to see the Chotchkies restaurant, the ditch and their office building. Awwwww, I wish I had my camera so I could have been a bigger nerd.
For the other misc crap, there is a restaurant that serves catfish and has high speed internet... gotta eat your fish and surf the web at the same time. Jen P. blogged about it and they found her blog, got mad and commented on the wrong blog post. That story is hilarious. I almost took this ladies door off with my rental car, while Chris was going to jump out and start licking her leg. Instead, we just got sandwiches... but that would have been awesome. I watched a documentary on real live cases of Zombies in Haiti. We had delicious bean burritos at two O'clock in the morning. Some girl started yelling at me for touching her ass at a bar... then it turned out to be one of Chris's friends that looked a lot like me that did it. That chick was really drunk... and scary. Oh, and I thought someone hit my rental car and fucked up the back side of it. Good thing for me for those tiny little "reported" stickers.
